An Eagle Launches...	An Eagle flies through space...	And David does a thing...

Scene 1 Emergency!

The moon recently blasted out of it's orbit with Earth, and out of the solar system. The crew of MoonBase Alpha now seek ways to return to Earth, find a new home or just survive on the few supplies they have.

In Main Mission a new threat emerges as a mile wide asteroid is detected.  Professor Bergman has projected that it will impact the moon, with catastrophic effect on Moonbase Alpha.

Commander Koenig is quick to act.

Commander Koenig  "How long do we have?"

Professor Bergman  "Well, I calculate just over 34 hours until impact.  If we launch immediately we could reach it in 4 hours.  But we need to destroy it before it gets within 24 hours of the moon otherwise our shields may not protect from the nuclear blast."

Commander Koenig "Paul.  Get four Eagles prepped with nuclear devices.  Eagle Five is already prepped for survey.  David, take your crew out immediately.  We need to make sure we have no unexpected surprises."

David  "Yes Commander."

Scene 2 Asteroid!

30 hours to impact

Eagle five reaches the approaching asteroid with a crew of David 'Dai' Bush, Joseph Connelly, Professor Nadia, Doctor Kai, Penny Coventry and Akiko Lynn as co-pilot. Professor Nadia starts her scans.  Each scan will take 30 minutes, but the more scans will make it easier but will leave a much smaller time window of error.  Nevertheless they decide to take four scans of the asteroid.

28 hours to impact

The final scan detects a foreign unidentifiable alloy, it cannot be natural rock.  And a deep scan detects a small pod in a cave just below the asteroid surface.

David makes the decision to investigate. Landing nearby is treacherous, but a safe landing will involve a longer spacewalk.  David instead does the improbable, and manoeuvres the Eagle INTO the cave!  The cave is barely wide enough for the spacecraft, but (with Momentum spend) David safely lands the Eagle near the pod.

Joseph, Nadia and Penny investigate the alien pod.  Working together they manage to open it's door, releasing it's limited atmosphere.  The Pod is small, with the three of them cramped inside.  It has a single pilot chair and what appears to be a Sleep Chamber.  It must have been here for possibly a century, but they is a power unit still providing power.

Nadia and Joseph work to open the pod, but it appears the pod must have been breached as it's incumbent is a an aged humanoid, with dried out skin tight to it's bone.  It is not breathing. 

Nadia  "They must have died many years ago..."

Suddenly the being gasps for air... "Beware the Necrosis Empire!"  they hiss before their entire body decays to dust!

There is nothing they can do for the individual now, but the Alphans realise that the power unit will be of great use to Moonbase, so they attempt to remove it from the pod.

26 hours to impact

Scene 3 Explode!

Returning to Eagle Five Penny advises that Alan is on the Comm asking if they can continue with the operation.  Joseph confirms they can as David begins the tricky process of reversing the Eagle out of the asteroid cave.

Alan "Hey, where are you?"

David  "Just watch this."

Aboard Eagle Two Alan Carter watches his find reverse the Eagle out of the narrow cave.

Alan "You are crazy my friend."

The other Eagles plant their nuclear devices on the asteroid, but Eagle Eight has a problem, its cable get caught on a rock.  Engaging thrust to pull clear the snap of the cable sends Eagle Eight spinning into outer space.  Communications are lost, it's crew likely knocked unconscious.

Paul Morrow  "This is Moonbase.  David, can you get to them?"

David  "On my way."

Another tricky manoeuvre as David has to match the spin of Eagle Eight so he can dock, but he does so.  Akiko and Kai board, Kai to treat the injured and Akiko to pilot the Eagle back to Moonbase.

25 hours to impact

The Eagles set course back to Moonbase and when clear Commander Koenig gives the command and the Asteroid explodes!
